What’s Great About It
- Compact and good-looking on a counter
- Extra-large hopper
- Reverse for clearing jams
- Owners call it fast: one ground 20 pounds of pork in about 10 minutes, and another has used it for two seasons of deer
- Easy to take apart and clean by hand
What’s Not So Great
- Plastic internal gears: several owners report gears stripping, and one says a plastic part needs the machine taken apart to replace
- Durability complaints are common, including units failing within a year
- Owners say it is very loud
- The small parts aren’t dishwasher safe
- One owner found chicken kept binding it up
Customer Feedback and Reviews
The MG855 averaged 3.3 out of 5 from 120 Amazon ratings when we checked, and the reviews split sharply. Happy owners call it a fast, compact workhorse; one grinds 12 to 15 pounds of chicken breast a week. Unhappy owners describe stripped plastic gears and units that stopped working, some soon after the warranty ran out.

Our Recommendation
We can’t recommend the MG855 today. It is hard to find, its owner rating is low, and the plastic gears are the most common failure. For a similar compact grinder, the Sunmile SM-G73 costs less and has a stronger motor; for more capacity and a much better owner rating, the STX Turboforce 3000 is the safer buy. Our STX 1800 review and electric meat grinder reviews cover more options.
