STX Turboforce II 4000 Review: A #12 Grinder That Handles Soft Bones

The STX Turboforce II 4000 is the grinder STX calls a “Beauty and a Beast”: a #12 grinder with a black or white body, chrome accents and STX’s patented quad air cooling. It sold for $229.75 on Amazon in October 2026, with 4.4 out of 5 from about 2,400 ratings.

Its biggest difference from STX’s cheaper Turboforce 3000 is bones. STX says the 4000 grinds soft bones such as chicken, rabbit, squirrel and quail, which makes it a popular choice for raw pet food. The 3000, by STX’s own account, will not grind bones at all. The cooling system is the other headline: STX claims it virtually doubles the motor’s life.

We haven’t run this grinder ourselves. This review is built from STX’s published specifications and verified owner reviews on Amazon, and it says which is which.

STX 4000 Turboforce II

It comes with five grinding plates (4 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm and a wagon wheel plate) plus a sixth, a sausage stuffing plate that STX calls a beaner plate. The stuffing plate isn’t for grinding; it lets more meat flow through when you’re filling casings.

What’s Great About the STX Turboforce II

  • Grinds soft bones, so it works for raw pet food
  • A #12 head with five grinding plates and a stuffing plate
  • Owners report fast grinding: a whole chicken or two rabbits in about five minutes, and two deer for one owner
  • Easy to assemble, take apart and hand wash
  • Foot pedal included
  • Full sausage, kubbe and burger kit in the box
  • 3-year guarantee

What’s Not So Great

  • It’s loud. Noise is one of the most common complaints, and one owner measured about 90 decibels
  • Some owners report it failing early: dying after a few uses, or the motor screeching and failing after about 30 lbs of sausage
  • The aluminum head and the plates aren’t dishwasher safe; owners who put them in report discolored parts
  • Meat needs to be very cold, or it turns mushy even through the large plates

Customer Feedback and Reviews

The Turboforce II averaged 4.4 out of 5 from about 2,400 Amazon ratings when we checked. Raw pet food is a big part of its audience: owners say it chews through chicken and rabbit bones and stays cool doing it. Hunters report grinding deer quickly, and one owner put about 60 pounds of pork shoulder through it in minutes.

The negative reviews are about noise and durability. Several owners call it very loud, and a minority report it dying within weeks or months. One owner who had a problem says STX got back to them and fixed it. You can read the owner reviews here.

Recommendation: Buy for Soft Bones and Pet Food

If you want to grind chicken or rabbit with the bones in, the Turboforce II is an affordable grinder whose maker says it can, and its owners back that up. For boneless meat only, the STX Turboforce 3000 costs about $50 less and has a higher owner rating. Either way, expect noise, and test it on a full batch while the return window is open.
