The STX Megaforce 3000 (STX-3000-MF) is the air-cooled version of STX’s best-selling #12 home grinder: three speeds, a 3 lb meat tray and a full sausage and burger kit. It was $189.75 on Amazon in October 2026, with 4.4 out of 5 from about 1,500 ratings. One thing to know up front: STX says plainly that it will not grind bones.
We haven’t run this grinder ourselves. This review is built from STX’s published specifications and verified owner reviews on Amazon, and it says which is which.

What’s Great About It
- A #12 head and 180 to 240 lbs an hour at under $200
- Air cooling, which the cheaper Turboforce 3000 doesn’t advertise
- Owners say it works as fast as they can feed it; one has ground 75 lbs in a session
- Easy to clean by hand
- Plenty of accessories in the box
What’s Not So Great
- It will not grind bones, according to STX, so it’s the wrong pick for raw pet food
- Owners say it’s noisy
- It clogs if you feed it too fast, and owners report jams on chicken joints
- A minority report the internal gears stripping, in one case just after the warranty ran out
- The aluminum head and plates aren’t dishwasher safe
Customer Feedback and Reviews
The Megaforce averaged 4.4 out of 5 from about 1,500 Amazon ratings when we checked. Most owners call it powerful, fast and good value; one owner grinds 75 lbs at a time and credits the cooling. You’ll also see owners say it handles chicken backs. STX warns that bone results are inconsistent and says not to try, and other owners report it jamming on chicken legs and thighs.
How It Compares
Prices were checked on Amazon in October 2026 and change often.
| Grinder | Price | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| STX Turboforce 3000 | $179.75 | Same #12 head, speed and kit, without advertised air cooling |
| STX Turboforce II 4000 | $229.75 | Air cooled, foot pedal, and STX says it grinds soft bones |
| Cuisinart MG-100 | $129.95 | Smaller 300W grinder, 3 lbs a minute, reverse, 3-year warranty |
Our Recommendation
For boneless meat, the Megaforce 3000 is a strong buy at under $200, and the air cooling is worth the $10 over the Turboforce 3000 if you grind big batches. If you want to grind bones for pet food, skip it and look at the STX Turboforce II 4000 or Magnum 1800, which STX says can.
